Offline Meetup Safety Tips
Wanerban helps you connect online—but you are responsible for your safety when meeting in person. We do not conduct background checks. Please read these tips before attending any meetup arranged through Wanerban.
Emergency (United States): If you are in immediate danger, call 911 first. Then report the user in-app or email safety@bobobans.com.
Before you go
- Meet in public. Choose busy, well-lit public places (cafés, malls, parks with foot traffic) for first-time meetups.
- Tell someone you trust. Share who you are meeting, where, when, and when you plan to return.
- Stay in control. Arrange your own transportation. Do not rely on a stranger for a ride home on the first meeting.
- Protect personal information. Do not share your home address, financial details, passwords, or ID documents.
- Verify the invitation. Confirm time, location, and activity details before you go. Be cautious if plans change suddenly to a private location.
- Check the profile. Review the other user’s profile and show-up rate. Be cautious of new accounts with little history.
During and after
- Stay sober and alert. Avoid situations where your judgment is impaired by alcohol or drugs when meeting someone new.
- Trust your instincts. If you feel uncomfortable, leave immediately and seek help.
- Report concerns. Use in-app Report, or email safety@bobobans.com.
What Wanerban does not allow
Do not attend or create meetups that involve illegal activity. Wanerban prohibits using the app for:
- Buying, selling, or arranging illegal drugs or controlled substances
- Illegal gambling or unlicensed betting
- Commercial sex / prostitution
- Any activity involving minors (under 18) and sexual content or exploitation
- Illegal weapons trafficking or other crimes
